I took a hike on the Appalachian Trail, and this is what I saw. The opening time-lapse is a work in progress. I nearly didn’t ad it, but I would be damned if I was going to stand in the cold for a couple hours for nothing, so I included it anyway. 15 years ago my uncle john and his family lived in florida and for vaction in the summer they would hike the appalacian trail. they came across a small town in NC and liked so much they moved there
@JesterAT2000 Thanks Jester. It was a cold morning when I shot this. But luckily the sun came out, warmed things up, and giant chunks of ice started dropping off the all of the trees limbs. After about the third shot to the head, I ran. It accrued to me, (as I was running away from the mountain), that I probably had made a good decision in never having joined the military.
Absolutely stunning. Almost makes me want to go Winter hiking. But not really, because I’m a wimp. Amazing job!
@drewnetwork I just checked the info for the photo’s in my time lapse, all of them were taken with the same settings; EF50mm f/1.4 USM Lens
ISO 200, 0 EV, f/8, 1/640, White balance: custom, Metering: parcial.
@drewnetwork Excellent, many thanks!
@drewnetwork There’s always at least a little bit of the DREWnetwork in ALL of my videos!
(I sent you a gmail a minute ago). Thanks, I went ahead and ordered a CPU filter just now. I was totally unaware of them, and the hoax that is a UV filter, damn.
Please note that a circular polarizer is very, very different from the hoax that is a “UV filter.”
Yeah, that was the southern end of the Massanutten — so yeah, the DREWnetwork appeared in this video.
Outstanding stuff. I still want to know what you’re doing to avoid that dreaded “flicker” with the time lapses.
For skies — look in to a “circular polarizer” filter. You can find cheap ones for as low as fifteen bucks (mediocre) and better ones in the hundred dollar range. A circular polarizer is what you use to get those perfect blues from the skies.
Beautiful!
@ihikearoundcom Haha! know what, I absolutly agree. thanks guys.
@daydreammen thank you antonym : )
@unclewooly Thanks mate. Means a lot hearing that from you.
@RamblinAround Thanks Jeff, really. You are my favorite you tube artist. (If you ever decide to make prints of your paintings available I will be first in line).
Hope you all have a great week, stay warm : )
@wawhiker Hey Bill hope your staying warm and dry out there, but I doubt it, lol!
@FromUnderTheRock Buck your imagination is admirable. I couldn’t place it myself until I read your comment. During the entire edit of this stuff I was in “tip of the tongue” dilemma over what exactly it reminded me of. I owe you a beer Buck, and not any of that cheap yellow Nascar pop I’m partial to.
@MoviesMusicNature I sure was glad that a couple people had broke trail with snowshoes previous to me going up there, sure took a little fight out of the climb. I was thanking that person the whole way up.
Capturing the northeast winter that makes it rival places out west. Yep confirmed, the Appalachian trail is best in winter! Thank You Moosey!
